“Turn on the web-browser…to the BBC!” doesn’t ryhme and would in fact make a terrible song.
Seven Noble Kinsmen
A drama/mystery all made in Flash that is pretty neat. Poke around and solve the mystery! I haven’t gotten terribly far into it, but so far I’ve found the puzzles and characters to be entertaining. I also like that you can save your game to your “account” and come back to it later.
So after playing a bit of this I poked around the BBC’s other “drama” related web-games, which you can find here. Many of them are awful. But a couple I enjoyed. I don’t know any of the tv series that these games are based on. Nonetheless, I liked the mini-games in the Spooks game. I didn’t have time to try them all, but some were quite enjoyable little puzzles while a couple others were more annoying. Nonetheless I was intrigued enough that I might go back and try to “clear” them all. The other game I rather liked was Survive Dickens’ London. It’s not particularly impressive in any sense, but I liked how they distributed educational bits in a little interactive adventure game. It made me think about the London of Dickens’ time as a real place and not just some strange realm in his books. And at the end of the day, I guess that’s really the point of games like this.
To be perfectly honest, I was mostly impressed by the breadth of games that the BBC’s web-site has to offer. Next week I’ll check out PBS.
